The Burning Crusade – Classic Launch Planning

The Day Before Launch

Are you planning to play The Burning Crusade Classic (TBCC) day one? This quick article will give you some tips and tricks on how to make the most out of your adventure.

If you have not had the chance to experience an early WoW expansion release you are in for a rather unique sort of treat. The first thing to note is that if you are planning to take time off of work it is often better to start a day or two after the initial launch since servers tend to either not be up in time or be crashing constantly on release day, look at how long the pre patch maintenance took. This goes double if you are on a high population server such as Faerlina.

Prior to launch day, June 1st, it’s beneficial that you log out in the Badlands next to the dark portal. If you need food and water, stock up before you log out as well.

Leveling to 70

The first thing everyone will be racing to do in TBCC is getting to max level. There are three groups of people in this initial push to 70.

  1. The ones who plan and get ahead of the pack
  2. The pack that are cannibalizing each others quest objectives
  3. Those that lag behind the pack

You either want to be in group 1 or group 3, if you are in group 2 you’re going to have a rather frustrating time. The difference between group 1 and 3 is less than a week. So it will not affect your long term goals in TBCC.

If you plan on being in the front of the pack you will need to grind out the first couple levels till around 62 or when you are into the next zone in Outlands. This will create a domino effect where you are always ahead of the average player and don’t have to deal with every other player fighting for quest objectives.

If you are fine waiting a week or so longer to get to level 70 it is worth your time and sanity to all but sit out the first few days of the expansion. The others leveling alongside you are likely to have the same more relaxed mentality and willing to help out on elite quests and the like.

Regardless if you are one of the server firsts to 70 or it takes you an extra week, your experience in TBCC will not drastically change. Don’t stress about being the first and fastest. Expansion launches are a rare and exciting time, enjoy it!
